I went out for the evening, the D300 in hand, looking to shoot some images. I end up at Key Span Park, home of the New York Mets minor league affiliate the Brooklyn Cyclones. I’m walking around the park, the Cyclones were on the road that night, and I turn up the side of the ballpark and discover this 9-11 Memorial. I was kind of stunned. There, on the bottom row was a plaque for Captain Vinny Brunton. He was a guy I knew, a man I knew, and we lost him on 9-11 but seeing him on that wall, almost by accident, was…just sad all over again.

I recently received a number of emails asking if I could repost this image full size. I’m here to oblige. This was a 7 exposure HDR, and one of the first images I put up on this photo blog [as well, sometimes older posts get buried in the back pages]. It’s received a number of “unique” comments, one of my favorites being… “So surreal. It looks like an illustration for a Ray Bradbury story.” I really liked that remark.
So, here it is, just Click image for larger view…… Included on HDR Spotting web site.

I’ve been asked by a couple of readers to show a Black and White version of this HDR. Done.I haven’t worked in B&W since the “old days'” with my 1969 Nikon F. I hope those who were curious about HDR’s in B&W, and the conversion from a color digital file, find it interesting. I needed to create about 7 layer comps in Ps before I could decide which version I liked. The larger size gives a better look. Feel free to let me know what your thoughts are.
